Oh I'm so bad at this.

I have been checking out all of my old blogs lately and here we are another post 4 months after the last one. It seems to be a running theme. Now that I have my Android phone I feel like I will post more, since the interwebs are in the palm of my hand all day every day.
I guess I've been re-reading these blogs and journals as my reflection on the last year. As I've been getting closer and closer to graduation I have felt a need to explore my past. My memory has never been super great, but every blog post brings the past rushing back to me as clear as day. Between the Xanga, Deviant Art, Gaia, and Live Journal, I have relived my high school days. I thought everything was so complicated then, but looking back I am missing the simplicity. *longing sigh* Most of my blogs ended during the dawn of my freshman year of college, some of which I probably will never remember completely because I stopped writing. My focuses changed completely. I even stopped drawing which had been my constant outlet since elementary school. But most painful of the things I let go by the wayside were the many friendships from those years: my girls at Loretto, my online friends from forums and IRC, and my childhood buddies whom I only see during holidays now.
Re-reading the blogs has made me realize what I missed most: my old self. She is not completely gone but the busy haze of my freshman year of college and my attempts to be "grown up" hid her away. I feel like I have less energy, and like I don't enjoy every moment of my life like I did then. Maybe this is "maturing" or getting older. But I don't like it.

So here is my New Year's Resolution for 2011:
I will re-kindle my self, and make the most out of every day. I will put time aside to write, draw, and read like I used to. I will keep in touch with my friends better than I have been these past four years and be a better friend to those I have around me all the time.
I think this will help me be much happier with my life.

So here's to 2011!

Busy busy!

I just started working at GNO cyclery, it's nice to be back in a bike shop, the smell of inner tubes, mysterious bike grease stains all over my arms, legs, and clothes- it makes me happy! I've been there for a week, still not used to standing around all day.
My projects are going well, the trumpet bag is about halfway done with the crochet part. I'm still trying to figure out exactly how to connect the pieces and make/attach a lining and padding as well as how to do the straps.
I made a few amigurumi Pokemon last week! Jigglypuff and Igglypuff sitting on a doily I made earlier that day. It's from Crochet Today March/April 2010. I wish I had a better camera, this was taken with my phone. I will make the patterns available as soon as I edit them.

New name

I wasn't really feeling the name I had before for my blog. "I will not crochet in class" came from high school when my friends and I were always knitting/crocheting/crafting in class and we used to get in trouble with certain teachers from time to time. At Loyola none of my teachers really mind it as long as I'm not distracting anyone and I find that crocheting in class time is a great way to get projects done very quickly. That said, the new name is my nickname from school, which no one at college really calls me, but I miss it dearly. My teachers even called me Crash, and we used to trick freshman into thinking it was my real name. So here it is! New look, new name! and I like it a lot more.

I've been working on a trumpet bag for Brian, yeah a crocheted trumpet case. I've never seen one before, and it's what he wanted for his birthday, which was almost a month ago, but it is going well.

Things got very hectic around the end of school through June, which was why I dropped off the earth, soon I'll post pics of my recent projects and from my trip to Hawaii with my family!

Hell Week!

Wow one week to my Junior recital... and a little more than a week to L'Enfant, then a week later and it's finals. So I'm taking a break from my projects until after the opera. I'm excited for it all but at the same time I can't wait for it to be over.

New look!

Wow thanks to Blogger's new set up with the templates I've managed to make this thing look pretty sweet! I like the color combination a lot.
Today is the last day of Spring Break, and I'm sitting here at the desk, kind of sad that I did not get into any shenanigans over the break... That aside, I slept so much I think I made up for all the sleep I didn't get during the semester. I'm so sad to go back to school though! That week of glorious freedom from responsibility is over. Now to get ready for my junior recital and finals. I wish I could just skip all this and have summer break already!
I've found an apartment that I think will be perfect as long as I can get a washer dryer in there. I'm just waiting to talk to my other roommates, I want to sign the lease and get this place!

Here's my latest creation, I think it'll be the first thing I put in my Etsy shop once I get some better pictures of it. Mostly not a picture of my guy friends b.s.-ing around, flippin' the bird. It's a heart barrette! yay!

A mountain of projects!

Here's my latest project! A baby hat! My very first baby item, and I'm pretty pleased with the way it came out. This is for my friend Mo's cousin who is going to have a baby boy soon. We are hoping that it will have red hair! Wouldn't that be great with the blue?
I've got a few other projects going on now, the legwarmers which I feel like I've been dragging around forever and Meatwad from Aqua Teen Hungerforce. I have to figure out how I'm going to do the face.
The Big Daddy from Bioshock still has yet to happen, I've been trying to figure out exactly how I'm going to do it. I'm determined for it to be cool. Also on my queue are Kitten Mittons.

As you can see there would be a HUGE market for these as Charlie is the most savvy entrepreneur IN THE WORLD. So yeah, I'm gonna make them and test them out on my friend's cat. We'll see how it goes.

Goodness me!

This week has been particularly stressful! I have had to reschedule my Junior recital about 5 times and move it to a new venue. Trying to pick one date that works for me, the venue, my voice teacher, and my family has been a nightmare. I think it is finally over though... I hope. Now I have a full month more to prepare and get everything together for this recital. Honestly I thought it was going to be pretty horrible if I kept the original date, March 21, but almost luckily my parents had not even bought plane tickets yet so I was able to move the date without complicating any travel plans that they had.

On the crochet front I have been particularly busy! My mother also sent me a bunch of knitting needles and my Stitch n Bitch books. I haven't decided to tackle it yet but I've got a bunch of knitted stuff on my queue on Ravelry!

For now I'm crocheting some legwarmers! Which would have been great if I had started them a few weeks ago... It's starting to get kinda warm here in New Orleans.

Time to write more music history papers... T_T

Where did February go?

I was on duty in Biever tonight, it's odd to work somewhere other than Buddig. I don't know where anything is and the residents don't show their IDs. I got quite a bit done though, I have a big music history midterm on Monday as well as my German diction midterm. I'm pretty nervous about both. Tomorrow I have to really sit down and cram.
I made a flower and a clover tonight, I'm planning on making some more clovers for St. Patricks day. I can't believe it's March so soon. My recital is fast approaching, which is really stressing me out.
I am starting a new main project, A Big Daddy from Bioshock, my boyfriend though it would be a cool thing to make. I'm pretty excited about making an amigurumi Big Daddy. I'm going off the design from the first game, I thought it was cooler looking.

Sorry, I have two left hands!

Wow! I never thought it would happen to me, but in my latest endeavor I made two left oven mitts... Not that it's really horrible to have two left mitts, but it gave me a good laugh... I'm pretty pleased with the way they came out!

The stars came out more like flowers which I love! I got the pattern from the Lily Sugar n Cream website.

I'm starting pilates today! I'm super excited, one of my friends is an instructor and she's teaching classes on campus! I'm planning on crocheting a bag for my yoga mat! I found a neat pattern so I'm gonna start on it as soon as I can. Now I've got to get ready for my first class!

Another weekend rolled past me

There's my panda! I put some rice in the feet since it was oddly balanced... he looks so sweet sitting on top of the tv! My dishcloth of doom is almost done, can't wait for that! I need to stop procrastinating... I have an essay due in my 8:30am class tomorrow and I haven't started at all. I just don't feel like doing work! I want to crochet and go to bed! School is lame! I also think I'm getting a cold. Boo. Brian took me to P.F. Changs for dinner tonight. It was delicious! I was so full! Their hot and sour soup is awesome. Well, I'm off to doing homework and tomorrow I'm going to start on my oven mitts!

oh desk duty...

I work at the front desk of my dorm. I check people in and make sure they live in the building. I have to sit here for 8 hours so it is prime time for crocheting! I'm working on a few projects right now, an amigurumi panda, an amigurumi 1up mushroom, a dishtowel, and oven mitts! I just finished an amigurumi monkey from Ana Rimoli's book Amigurumi World: Seriously Cute Crochet. It's super cute and I think my friend will love it!

I lost my camera during Mardi Gras, so I have to make do with lo-quality... Well, I'm making the panda's arms and legs! I'll post it tomorrow.

HELLO!

Hi! Well I haven't had a blog in a little while. I haven't really had anything much to write about. Recently I started crocheting and it has given me something to put my energy into! I only started about three months ago and it has become such a part of me that I almost always have a hook in my hand. I have not actually gotten in trouble for crocheting through most all of my classes, but I did get in trouble for knitting during multiple classes in high school and that is where I got my inspiration for the title of this blog. This blog is going to be about my projects mostly. My bike blog didn't seem to be working out as I stopped riding for most of the winter. I'll never be a hardcore all weather cyclist like my dad and co-workers - which does not necessarily bother me. I'd rather be warm and cozy. I'll still update my bike blog as it's starting to get warmer ever so slightly. I saw the sun today!

Currently I have about four projects going. I can never seem to work on one thing at a time... I get bored with it! I'll start posting my FOs and wips soon. Unfortunately I lost my camera so I'll have to borrow someone's first. So yay for my first post!
