I love customer pics! :)
PB and Marceline! Marceline was my first Adventure Time crochet project, and the reason why I started watching the show.

Princess Bubblegum Amigurumi

My latest project: A super sweet amigurumi of Princess Bubblegum from Adventure Time! I'm really excited about this because it's for one of my friends from college. About a year ago I made her a Marceline doll. (which I sadly don't have a picture of) I plan on posting a listing on the Etsy shop for a made to order PB soon!
I'm really sad spring break is about to be over, I never get enough crafting in when it's school time. I want to make more Adventure Time amis!! I'm thinking Tree Trunks or Beemo... or Hotdog Princess?

Shiny Headphones

Super sweet sequined headphones I made this morning. They are Sony noise canceling headphones which looked pretty boring when I got them a couple years ago. Then last night I saw a post by this girl named Melissa via craftgawker.com. I also found her other post for wrapped ear buds, perfect distractions from the papers I should be working on. :) The ear buds were pretty time consuming but I had a couple movies to watch. I love the way they both turned out! Yay for playing with Instagram!

Custom iPad Case Tutorial

Here's my first tutorial!<3

Materials needed:
-Clear iPad case (mine is the Belkin Snap Shield for iPad 2 which works with the Smart Cover)
-Scissors or x-acto knife
-ruler
-cutting mat
-pretty paper!

1. Cut the paper to about 9 1/2" x 7 1/4"
2. Round off the corners and cut a slit in each one (so it will follow the edge of the iPad)
3. Cut out paper to correspond with the cut outs on the case
4. Place the paper in the case and snap it on!

done! woo! Now you have a custom pretty iPad case which is easily interchangeable, make as many as you want to match your mood!

I plan on carrying these in my Etsy store pretty soon! I'll post a link when I do.

Chicago

Wow. I am so in love with this city. I always knew in my heart I would end up here some day, and now that it is a reality, I almost can't believe it. I'm close to the rest of my family, I've already made awesome friends, my bf and I are happier than ever... I can't wait to start school!

Penguins!

Here are the amigurumi I made a few weeks ago. I've been watching a lot of Adventure Time With Finn and Jake and I want to make everything from it as amigurumi! I couldn't find a pattern for Gunther, one of the Ice King's penguins, so I made these guys instead. I am in the process of making a few patterns of characters from the show. Hopefully I'll get them done before I move.

iPad

So yeah, I got one for graduation, which is part of why I haven't posted in forever. The other reason is being in between moving. There are about two weeks until I throw all of my stuff in a moving van and drag Brian to the cold awesomeness of Chicago.
I'm really excited to start grad school and be in a new city. But I'm still figuring the whole apartment thing out.
I'm going to post more projects as soon as I can get some good pictures going. It's been so rainy though...

So I'm a college graduate now. Whoooooo! On to more school! In the fall I start at Roosevelt University in Chicago for my graduate degree in vocal performance. I can't wait to move up there!! But for now I'm still stuck here in the South. I'm staying with Brian's family in Mobile, Al until we find an apartment in Chi-town and find a way to get ourselves and all our stuff there. Hopefully we will both find jobs before we actually move...

A few days after graduation I managed to faint and smash my face on a chair, giving me two lacerations, one on my eyelid and the other on my cheek. Which gave me lots of time to sit around and crochet. I've gotten quite a few projects done in the last few weeks.

Title changed (again)

I realize that this blog is not solely focused on my hooking, so I decided to change the name. Simple as that really, I don't just crochet anymore, it was never actually my main hobby. So here we go, and hopefully not limiting it to that will help me post more.

Spring break

Three weeks until graduation! I sort if can't believe I made it. The bf and I are moving to Chicago at the end of summer because I got into Roosevelt university for grad school. I can't wait to actually be able to use all the cold weather stuff that I've made (and get a head start on some cozy patterns!) I'm going to miss nola, but I always hoped I would end up in Chi-town.
To get ready for the move I've decided to use up all the yarn that has taken over my room. I have a blanket going along with all sorts of amigurumi friends. I'm still planning on starting my etsy store by June. I just need to get some pictures going and write/edit the patterns I'm hoping to sell. It is spring break now, so I might finally be able to get that done.
I wanted to mention my new handmade/craft/art love: wheel thrown ceramics. More on that later!

Spring!

How did all that time go by so fast? And with no posts from me T_T. I'm going to post a lot more now, because I finally got the blogger app on my phone!
I have been crafting up a storm lately, upcycling mardi gras beads into lampshades, making paper flowers, and making lots of progress on the bottle cap table. But I haven't picked up a hook in about a month, but I woke up this morning and saw the ridiculous pile that my stash has become. I'm going to start blasting through my ravelry queue as soon as I get my projects turned in on Friday.
I'm also starting to plan out what I'm going to do with my Etsy store, which I plan on opening in June!

So close to the end

Time really goes too quickly. The semester is rushing past- only a month and a half until my senior recital, less than two weeks until me and Brian's audition at Roosevelt University in Chicago... I can't wait to actually know what I'm doing with my life after graduation. But I'm still at least three months from knowing.
When I haven't been practicing or frantically doing projects I've actually been making a lot of progress on projects. I've been making tons of hats for people, and trying to get some of my decoration and furniture projects going.
Right now I'm making a hat for Mo, a circle scarf and a panda amigurumi.
I'm going to post pics of all the projects I've finished in the last month tomorrow!

Resolutions?

I've never been good at keeping my resolutions, possibly because I have never written them down so I can be reminded of them. I have a bit of a list:

1. Practice more/ better.
2. Keep in better touch with friends I don't get to see.
3. Stop eating after 10 pm.
4. Get in shape! (focus: arms and abs)
5. Take more pictures.
6. Draw more.
7. Post here at least once a week.

Yay! there they are.

Thursday, December 30, 2010

Oh I'm so bad at this.

I have been checking out all of my old blogs lately and here we are another post 4 months after the last one. It seems to be a running theme. Now that I have my Android phone I feel like I will post more, since the interwebs are in the palm of my hand all day every day.
I guess I've been re-reading these blogs and journals as my reflection on the last year. As I've been getting closer and closer to graduation I have felt a need to explore my past. My memory has never been super great, but every blog post brings the past rushing back to me as clear as day. Between the Xanga, Deviant Art, Gaia, and Live Journal, I have relived my high school days. I thought everything was so complicated then, but looking back I am missing the simplicity. *longing sigh* Most of my blogs ended during the dawn of my freshman year of college, some of which I probably will never remember completely because I stopped writing. My focuses changed completely. I even stopped drawing which had been my constant outlet since elementary school. But most painful of the things I let go by the wayside were the many friendships from those years: my girls at Loretto, my online friends from forums and IRC, and my childhood buddies whom I only see during holidays now.
Re-reading the blogs has made me realize what I missed most: my old self. She is not completely gone but the busy haze of my freshman year of college and my attempts to be "grown up" hid her away. I feel like I have less energy, and like I don't enjoy every moment of my life like I did then. Maybe this is "maturing" or getting older. But I don't like it.

So here is my New Year's Resolution for 2011:
I will re-kindle my self, and make the most out of every day. I will put time aside to write, draw, and read like I used to. I will keep in touch with my friends better than I have been these past four years and be a better friend to those I have around me all the time.
I think this will help me be much happier with my life.

So here's to 2011!
